Five axes of motion built from Qubic's modular ecosystem. Combine the 3DOF actuator set (pitch, roll, heave) with the QS-CH2 traction loss platform and you add surge and yaw underneath your cockpit. Under hard braking you feel the deceleration push forward through surge. When the rear steps out mid-corner, yaw rotates you into the slide before your eyes register it. Rally, drift, GT, and open-wheel driving become visceral because the two forces that define car control at the limit are now physical events your body reacts to instinctively.

For flight simulation, surge adds the deceleration feel of landing rollout and go-around thrust. Yaw delivers rudder coordination and crosswind correction as rotational force. Combined with true heave for turbulence and touchdown impacts, five degrees of freedom cover nearly every force a pilot needs to train spatial awareness and aircraft handling.

Our Recommendation
The ultimate Qubic modular configuration. If you already own a 3DOF set, add the QS-CH2 to upgrade. If you are buying from scratch and want surge and yaw from day one, this is the complete package.

Traction loss you catch on instinct.

The QS-CH2 sits underneath your cockpit and delivers the two forces that define car control at the limit. Surge pushes you forward under braking and pulls you back under acceleration. Yaw rotates you into oversteer before your eyes see the slide developing. Rally stages, drift battles, and wet races become physical puzzles your body solves before your brain processes the visual. For flight, surge delivers the deceleration of landing rollout and yaw reproduces rudder coordination as genuine rotation.

Five axes working as one system

Pitch, roll, and heave from the four actuators above. Surge and yaw from the QS-CH2 platform below. Five degrees of freedom controlled through a single M10 controller with one unified software profile per game.

The system calculates all five axes simultaneously so the forces blend into a single cohesive sensation rather than five separate movements fighting each other. That coordination is what separates a five-axis system from five individual devices bolted together. One controller, one calibration, one experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose 5DOF over 6DOF?

True 6DOF requires a hexapod or Stewart platform which starts at £16,000+ (Qubic QS-V20). The 5DOF set delivers the five most impactful axes through a modular system at a significantly lower price. Most sim racers and flight sim pilots find surge and yaw more valuable than sway as the fifth and sixth axes. The 5DOF set covers the forces that matter most for driving and flying.

Can I buy the 3DOF set first and add the QS-CH2 later?

Yes. That is exactly how the modular system is designed. Buy the 3DOF set now, use it, and add the QS-CH2 when budget allows. The 3DOF hardware stays in place and the CH2 slides underneath.

How much floor space does the 5DOF set need?

The QS-CH2 measures 1329 x 1073mm. With your rig on top and clearance for motion, allow approximately 2.5m x 2m of clear floor space. A single UK garage handles it comfortably.

Is the QS-CH2 loud?

No. The CH2 uses the same industrial actuator technology as the QS-210/QS-220. It operates at the same whisper-quiet levels. The full 5DOF system is quieter than most 2DOF platforms from other manufacturers.

What is the weight of the complete system?

The QS-CH2 weighs 160kg on its own. With four actuators, rig, and a driver, total system weight is approximately 350-400kg. Ensure your floor can support this. Concrete or reinforced floors are ideal. Suspended wooden floors in upper rooms are not recommended for the 5DOF set.

Does it work for flight simulation?

Yes. Surge adds deceleration feel for landing rollout, go-around thrust, and catapult launches. Yaw delivers rudder coordination and crosswind correction. Combined with heave for turbulence and pitch/roll for aircraft attitude, the 5DOF set covers the full flight training envelope outside of sway.

Do you offer installation?

Our products are designed for self-assembly. Full instructions are provided by the manufacturer. Assembly typically takes 2-3 hours for the 2.5DOF and 3DOF sets, and 3-4 hours for the 5DOF set including the QS-CH2 platform. If you need hands-on help, we recommend hiring a local handyman or technician.

What is the delivery time?

1 to 2 weeks delivery if in stock. Free delivery, all prices include VAT, no import fees or surprise charges at the door.

What is the warranty?

2-year manufacturer warranty for home use. 1-year warranty for commercial use. Commercial warranty extensions are available on request. Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship.

Can I use this with VR?

Yes. Qubic systems are compatible with all major VR headsets. Motion compensation is supported through third-party tools like OXRMC to keep the virtual horizon locked to the platform movement.

Do I need bass shakers or transducers with this?

No. Qubic actuators include integrated haptics up to 100Hz which deliver road texture, ABS chatter, and surface detail directly through the rig frame. Most users find the built-in haptics eliminate the need for separate shakers entirely.

What power supply do I need?

Standard UK 13A plug socket. Single-phase 230V AC. The power cabinets included with the set handle all power distribution. No special wiring or dedicated circuits needed.

Is it noisy enough to disturb neighbours?

Qubic's industrial linear actuators are among the quietest motion hardware available. Suitable for flats, terraced houses, and shared spaces. Significantly quieter than gear-driven or belt-driven alternatives.
