Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering
Can I trust SimTorque as a retailer?
SimTorque Ltd is a registered UK business (Companies House number 17102663). We are an authorised retailer for every motion platform brand we stock. Every product is genuine and sourced directly through the manufacturers.
Do you hold stock or are products made to order?
It depends on the platform. DOF Reality platforms ship directly from the manufacturer's facility in Poland. eMotion Simulators platforms are made to order in the UK. Qubic System platforms are made to order in Europe. Check the individual product page for specific lead time information before ordering.
Can I cancel my order after placing it?
For most products yes, within 14 days of delivery under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. However, made-to-order products like eMotion Simulators platforms cannot be cancelled once production
has started. DOF Reality platforms have a 24-hour cancellation window from the point of order, as production and shipping is
scheduled in batches. Please contact us immediately at support@simtorque.co.uk if you need to cancel.
Are prices on the site all-inclusive?
This is an important one and we want to be completely transparent about it. For UK-built products like eMotion Simulators, prices on
the site include UK VAT and there are no additional charges on delivery. For products that ship from outside the UK, including DOF
Reality (Poland) and Qubic System (Europe), prices on the site do not include UK import VAT. UK import VAT (20% of the declared value) is paid to the courier on delivery and is required by UK customs law on all goods imported from outside the UK, regardless of which UK retailer you buy through. We make this clear on the relevant product
pages and in your quote, so there are no surprises at delivery.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Shop Pay and Klarna. All payments are processed securely.
Delivery
How long will my order take to arrive?
Lead times vary by manufacturer. As a general guide, DOF Reality platforms take 2-3 weeks (shipped in batches from Poland), eMotion Simulators platforms take 3-4 weeks as they are built to order in the UK, and Qubic System platforms take similar lead times depending on configuration. Always check the product page for the most
accurate estimate.
How much does delivery cost?
Standard UK mainland delivery is free on all motion platform orders. For products shipped from outside the UK, please note that UK import VAT is paid separately to the courier on delivery. We honour Free UK Delivery and cover the shipping costs on all orders.
Do you deliver outside the UK mainland?
Standard UK mainland delivery is included. For Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and other offshore UK territories, please contact us before ordering for a delivery quote.
What happens when my motion platform is delivered?
Motion platforms are large, heavy items shipped by freight courier. Delivery is kerbside — the driver will get it to your front door or driveway but won't carry it inside. Please make sure you have help available on delivery day. Some platforms exceed 100kg, so plan ahead. You need to be home to receive the delivery, and for products shipped from outside the UK you will also need to be available to pay the import VAT to the courier at the point of delivery.
Will I get tracking information?
Yes. You will receive an email with tracking details as soon as your order is dispatched. For made-to-order platforms you will also receive an update when production begins.
Products and Compatibility
Which motion platform is right for me?
It depends on your budget, your application (sim racing, flight sim, or professional use) and how much immersion you want. 2DOF gives you pitch and roll, a solid entry point. 3DOF adds traction loss (in racing) or finer attitude movement (in flight) and is the most popular tier. 4DOF adds heave for vertical movement. 6DOF gives you full six-axis motion. Seat movers are a more affordable entry tier that move the seat rather than the entire rig. If you're not sure, email us and we'll help you choose based on your setup, budget and how you'll use it.
What's the difference between racing and flight versions of a motion platform?
Some manufacturers (DOF Reality, for example) offer racing and flight configurations of the same platform. The flight version uses an additional reducer gearbox on each motor, which provides extra smoothness on the slow, gradual motions present in flight simulation. Flight versions can still do racing without any drawbacks, so if you're primarily a flight simmer it's the better choice. For pure
sim racing, the standard racing version is fine.
Are motion platforms compatible with my existing rig?
DOF Reality, eMotion Simulators and Qubic System platforms are designed to work with most aluminium profile and steel cockpit rigs, with multiple mounting patterns to accommodate different wheelbase, pedal and yoke placements. If you have a specific rig and want to confirm compatibility before ordering, email us with the details.
Do I need a PC to use a motion platform?
Most motion platforms require a PC running compatible simulation software. For sim racing, that's titles like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2 and others with motion output support. For flight simulation, that's MSFS, X-Plane or DCS. Some platforms also support console connection via additional hardware. Check the individual product page for compatibility specifics.
Can a motion platform be used for both sim racing and flight simulation?
Yes, generally. The flight-spec versions of platforms like DOF Reality work for both. Some configurations and accessories are application-specific (a flight setup uses a yoke and pedals, a racing setup uses a wheel and pedals), but the platform itself can serve both uses with the right mounting.
Bespoke and B2B
Do you supply bespoke motion platforms?
Yes. Through our UK-based manufacturing partners, we deliver bespoke motion platforms for commercial, training, defence and specialist applications. If you need a standing platform for VR training, a custom configuration for a research facility, or a
bespoke build that sits outside our standard catalogue, contact us through our Bespoke & B2B page or email corey@simtorque.co.uk with your requirements.
What's the typical timeline for a bespoke build?
Most bespoke projects take 10-16 weeks from order confirmation to delivery, depending on the complexity of the build and any custom software integration required. Initial scoping and quoting typically takes 1-2 weeks after we receive your full requirements.
Can you handle defence or institutional procurement?
Yes. We work with UK manufacturing partners experienced in institutional and defence builds. For projects requiring export licensing or specific compliance documentation, please contact us to discuss the structure of the project before formal enquiry.
Returns and Warranty
What is your return policy?
Most products can be returned within 14 days of delivery in unused, original condition. Made-to-order products including eMotion Simulators platforms and any bespoke builds cannot be returned once production has started. A 20% handling and inspection fee applies to returns of motion platforms. See our full Returns and Refunds policy for details.
Who pays for return shipping?
On unwanted returns, return shipping is the customer's responsibility. For motion platforms, freight return costs can be significant. We cover return shipping on faulty or incorrectly supplied items.
What warranty do products come with?
All products carry the manufacturer warranty from the date of delivery. DOF Reality platforms have a one-year hardware warranty. eMotion Simulators platforms come with a one-year parts and labour warranty. Qubic System platforms come with their standard manufacturer warranty — check the product page for specifics.
What do I do if my order arrives damaged?
Photograph the packaging and the product before doing anything else. Don't open it further. Email us at support@simtorque.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery and we'll arrange a resolution. Keep the original packaging as it may be needed for a claim.
