Most platforms tilt to fake the forces a car puts through a driver. The eMotion STL refuses to. Surge and traction loss are linear forces in a real car, so the STL reproduces them as linear movement. The whole rig slides forward and back along a track for acceleration and braking. The rear pivots left and right for oversteer and understeer. It sits underneath the cockpit you already own and moves the entire thing, not just the seat, so gear changes, throttle and slides all land where your body expects them. Tilting a platform feels like soft suspension. This feels like driving. Sim racing focused, because surge and traction loss are racing cues that do not translate to flight.
- 2 axes of motion: surge and traction loss
- Linear motion, not tilt based approximation
- Modular: start with surge only, traction loss only, or both. Upgrade later
- Full rig motion, moves the entire cockpit
- 350 kg weight limit
- PC and console compatible
- UK manufactured
Configuration: Choose your motion module (Surge plus Traction Loss, Surge only, or Traction Loss only). Add a Single Screen or Triple Screen cockpit, or a Console Controller as variants above. The STL sits under your existing cockpit. Seat, wheelbase, pedals and monitor sourced separately.
Console use: Add the Console Controller variant above. Compatible with GT7, F1 series, Project Cars 2 and Forza titles. Not all racing titles supported. Contact us if unsure.

Tilt doesn't replicate motion. Motion replicates motion.
Most platforms simulate braking and traction loss by tilting. Roll the rig left to suggest the rear stepped out. Pitch the rig forward to suggest the brakes loaded. Your eyes process it, but your body knows the difference.
The STL refuses the compromise. Surge moves the entire cockpit forward and back on a linear track for real acceleration and braking forces. Traction loss rotates the cockpit physically for real oversteer and understeer feedback. No approximation, no tilt-based shortcut. Modular too - start with one axis, add the other later.
Linear motion in a UK-built package that respects your time.
Linear motion platforms are often built like industrial equipment, which they sort of are. The STL has the engineering credibility of an industrial design with the practical consideration of something that has to live in your sim room. 350kg weight limit, plug-and-play, no assembly, no calibration faff, no separate control box gathering cables around your rig.
Built in Britain, supported in Britain, free UK mainland delivery. The platform that does linear motion properly without making it feel like a science project.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between surge and traction loss?
Surge simulates acceleration, braking and gear changes by moving your whole rig forward and backward. Traction loss simulates oversteer and understeer by pivoting the rear of the rig left and right around a front pivot point.
Can I buy just one and upgrade later?
Yes. The STL is modular. You can order surge only or traction loss only and upgrade to both at any time by adding the motion module. You do not need to buy a whole new platform.
Will it fit my existing cockpit?
The STL is compatible with most cockpits including eMotion Simulators, Playseat, Trak Racer, GT Omega and Rseat. Some cockpits may require an adapter plate which eMotion can supply. If you don't have a cockpit yet, you can add an eMotion Single Screen or Triple Screen cockpit as a variant option above — both bolt directly onto the platform.
Can I use it on console?
Yes with the eMotion Console Controller available as an add-on variant above. Compatible with GT7, F1 series, Project Cars 2 and Forza titles.
Can I use the STL alongside other eMotion products?
Yes. The STL works alongside the e2, e3, eSeat, eSeatX and eBelt. Many customers combine the STL with an e2 or e3 for a full motion experience covering pitch, roll, heave, surge and traction loss.
How long is the lead time?
Every STL is built to order by hand in the UK. Lead time is 3 to 4 weeks from order.
Is delivery included in the price?
Yes. Free UK mainland delivery is included on all eMotion Simulators products. The price shown includes VAT.
I have a question not answered here — how do I get in touch?

Is the STL Right For You?
Best For
- Sim racers who want linear motion - real forward/back surge and physical traction loss rotation, not tilt-based simulation
- Drivers running GT3, F1, touring car or rallycross titles where weight transfer and rear-axle feedback dominate
- Buyers prioritising industrial-grade engineering with UK build quality and direct support
- Sim racers who want a modular system - buy one axis, add the other later
Consider the e3 Instead If
- You want pitch, roll and heave rather than surge and traction loss
- Heave (kerbs, road texture) matters more than surge (acceleration push) for your driving
Not Recommended For
- Flight simmers - traction loss has no flight relevance, and surge in flight is better served by the H4R or larger platforms
- Buyers on a £2,000 ceiling - the entry tier eMotion products sit below this price point
- Anyone wanting full 3DOF pitch and roll - STL doesn't include those axes; pair with another platform or look at DOF H4
