Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose the FIA or Non-FIA version for sim racing?
For sim racing use only the Non-FIA version is the better choice. It is the identical seat with the same GRP shell, the same PRO-FIT padding system and the same harness slots. The only difference is that the FIA version carries an official FIA homologation certificate and label which is required for use in sanctioned motorsport competition. If you are buying purely for your sim rig the Non-FIA version saves you money with no compromise in quality or construction.
What is the difference between Standard and GT width?
The Standard width suits the majority of drivers and is the most commonly ordered option. The GT width offers a slightly wider internal dimension across the hips and thighs, making it the preferred choice for broader drivers or anyone who finds the standard width too snug. If you are unsure which to choose contact us with your hip measurement and we will recommend the right size.
What is the PRO-FIT padding system?
PRO-FIT is Cobra's custom padding system built into the seat. It uses a set of removable cushion pads that can be adjusted to fine tune the fit across the back, base and knee areas. This means the seat fits correctly for over 95% of drivers without any modification. Replacement PRO-FIT cushions are available separately from Cobra.
Do I need side mounts and which should I choose?
Yes. All T-range seats are side-mounted only and require side mounts to fit to your sim rig. The standard steel side mounts at £75 a pair are compatible with all standard aluminium profile sim rigs. The alloy side mounts at £125 a pair are a lighter premium option. Both are available as add-on variants above. Contact us if you need help confirming compatibility with your specific rig.
What is HANS compatibility and does it matter for sim racing?
HANS stands for Head and Neck Support. It is a safety device used in real motorsport that clips to the helmet and limits head movement in a crash. HANS compatibility on the Suzuka T means the headpad geometry is designed to work with a HANS device correctly. For sim racing this is not required but it confirms the headpad and shoulder area are engineered to professional motorsport standards.
What is the difference between the Imola, Suzuka, Evolution and Sebring?
All four are deep-sided GRP bucket seats from the same family. The Imola T is the entry point of the range with a standard depth profile. The Suzuka T is high-backed with a taller headpad area and is Cobra's best-selling motorsport seat. The Evolution T has a wider internal profile than the Imola and Suzuka making it better suited to broader drivers. The Sebring T is similar in profile to the Evolution and offers an alternative fit for drivers who find the Imola or Suzuka slightly narrow. If you are unsure which suits you best contact us and we will help you choose.
Can I get a custom colour or trim on these seats?
Yes. The Signature Range option on each seat allows you to specify custom spacer fabric colour combinations, stitching colour and Cobra logo colour. Contact us after ordering with your specification and we will liaise with Cobra directly.
How long does delivery take?
Cobra seats are made to order at their Telford facility in the UK. Lead time is approximately 4 weeks from order placement. Free UK mainland delivery is included once dispatched.
Can I return a made-to-order seat?
Made to order seats cannot be returned once production has started. Please confirm your colour, width and FIA preference before placing your order. Contact us if you have any questions before ordering and we will help you choose correctly.
