Most sequential shifters are a spring and a click. The BDH S1 is built around something better: an industry-first Dynamic Inertia Mechanism that uses a weighted cylindrical system to recreate the actual momentum transfer of a race car dog-box. You feel the preload build, the crisp engagement point, the weighted return. Every pull and push has the mechanical character of a genuine sequential box, not an approximation of one. CNC-machined from billet aluminium and handmade in York.
The S1 uses a longer shaft and more aggressive feel than the sequential mode on the H2SQ, making it the natural choice for rally and drift sim racers who want a dedicated sequential with genuine mechanical character.

Clean sequential. No gimmicks.
Push forward. Pull back. The S1 does one thing and does it well. A dedicated sequential shifter with a crisp, consistent shift action that snaps through the gate with zero slop.
No dual-mode switches, no adjustment dials, just a clean mechanical sequential designed for drivers who only need the one mode and want it to feel exactly right every time. UK built by BDH at a price that makes it the most accessible way into proper sim racing shifters.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the H2SQ, H1, S1 and Active?
The H2SQ is a dual-rail H-pattern and sequential shifter in one unit. It is the most versatile in the range and suits GT, touring car and rally driving across both modes.
The H1 is a dedicated H-pattern only shifter. All design choices are optimised purely for H-pattern feel, inspired by the Ford Escort MkII rally gearbox. The right choice if you only drive H-pattern cars.
The S1 is a dedicated sequential only shifter with a longer rally-focused shaft. It uses the Dynamic Inertia Mechanism to replicate dog-box engagement physics. Built for rally and drift drivers who want a standalone sequential.
The Active is an H-pattern shifter with servo-driven force feedback. Resistance and feedback are driven by live SimHub telemetry in real time. Gear grind, clutch lock-out and torque retention are all simulated physically through the lever.
What sim rigs are BDH shifters compatible with?
All BDH shifters are compatible with aluminium profile rigs including 8020 and 4040 profiles. The H2SQ, H1 and Active can be top mounted, side mounted or reverse mounted using the integrated clamp system with no additional brackets needed. The S1 is top mount only.
Do BDH shifters work with all sim titles?
Yes. All BDH shifters connect via USB-C and are recognised as standard HID devices. They are plug and play with all major titles including Assetto Corsa, iRacing, rFactor 2, Automobilista 2, DiRT Rally and EA WRC. No drivers are needed for the H2SQ, H1 or S1. The Active Shifter requires SimHub for the force feedback system to work.
Can I use a different gear knob?
Yes. All BDH shifters support third-party gear knobs via an M10 x 1.5 thread.
What warranty do BDH shifters come with?
The H2SQ, H1 and S1 all come with a lifetime warranty covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. The Active Shifter comes with a 2-year warranty, with repair support available beyond that period under BDH's return for repair policy.
Where are BDH shifters made?
All BDH shifters are handcrafted at BDH's facility in York, England. They are UK made and ship directly from York.
