170 grams. That is lighter than an iPhone. The Dream Air is Pimax's ultra-compact PCVR headset using the same Sony 8K Micro-OLED panels and ConcaveView pancake lenses found in the Crystal Super Micro-OLED, compressed into a form factor that you can wear for hours without noticing. For sim racers doing 90-minute race stints and flight sim pilots on long-haul routes, the weight difference is transformative.

3840 x 3552 resolution per eye on Sony Micro-OLED panels delivers deep blacks, vivid colours, and sharp detail. 110 degree horizontal FOV provides strong peripheral awareness. The SLAM version includes two controllers and uses inside-out tracking, so no external base stations are needed. If you already own SteamVR base stations and want Lighthouse tracking instead, see the Dream Air Lighthouse version. Combined with a motion platform, the Dream Air delivers full immersion without the neck fatigue that heavier headsets cause over long races and flights.

Pick up. Put on. Race.

No base stations. No wall mounts. No calibration. The Dream Air SLAM tracks your position using built-in cameras so setup is literally putting it on your head. At 170g it's the lightest PC VR headset available and inside-out tracking means you can move it between rigs, rooms, or take it to a friend's setup without bringing hardware with you. Same ultra-wide field of view and clarity as the Lighthouse version, without the external tracking kit.

170 Grams. You Will Forget It Is There.

Sony 8K Micro-OLED panels and ConcaveView pancake lenses packed into a headset lighter than an iPhone. Most VR headsets start causing neck strain after 30 minutes on a motion platform. Dream Air sits so light on your face that two-hour race stints and long-haul flights feel effortless. Deep OLED blacks mean night racing and dusk approaches look the way they should, not washed out by LCD backlight bleed.

Built for motion

If you're racing or flying with motion & VR, this is the headset designed to handle it. SIMRIG's native VR motion compensation works out of the box with Dream Air. ProSimu and Qubic platforms support motion compensation through third-party tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can a VR headset weigh only 170 grams?

ConcaveView pancake lenses are dramatically thinner than traditional Fresnel lenses, and Sony Micro-OLED panels are a fraction of the size and weight of standard LCD panels. Combined, these allow Pimax to compress flagship-level optics into something lighter than most smartphones.

Is 170 grams noticeable on a motion platform?

Barely. Heavier headsets shift and press into your face every time the platform pitches or rolls. At 170 grams, Dream Air stays put during aggressive motion and causes zero neck fatigue even during endurance stints. If you use VR on motion regularly, the weight difference is significant.

What is the difference between the SLAM and Lighthouse versions?

SLAM uses built-in cameras for inside-out tracking and comes with two controllers. No external hardware needed. Lighthouse uses external SteamVR base stations for tracking and does not include controllers. SLAM is simpler to set up. Lighthouse offers slightly more stable tracking and SteamVR-native smart smoothing. Choose based on whether you already own base stations.

Does Dream Air work with sim racing and flight sim titles?

Yes. Compatible with iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor 2, Automobilista 2, MSFS 2024, DCS World, X-Plane 12, and any SteamVR or OpenXR compatible title. Works on PC only, not console.

What GPU do I need?

An RTX 4090 or 5090 is recommended to drive the 3840 x 3552 resolution per eye at 90Hz. Mid-range GPUs can run it at lower supersampling but you will not get the full benefit of the Micro-OLED panels without a high-end card.

What is the warranty?

1 year manufacturer warranty with Pimax 24/7 support. SimTorque handles your initial contact and Pimax manages any returns or replacements.
