The same 170-gram ultra-compact headset as the Dream Air SLAM, but configured for SteamVR Lighthouse tracking. If you already own base stations and SteamVR-compatible controllers (Valve Index controllers, Tundra Trackers, etc.), the Lighthouse version lets you use your existing tracking setup with the Dream Air without buying new controllers.

Lighthouse tracking also enables SteamVR-native features including smart smoothing for better performance headroom. For dedicated sim racing and flight sim setups where the headset sits in the same position every session, two base stations provide rock-solid tracking with zero drift. The headset is identical in every other way: same Sony Micro-OLED panels, same ConcaveView pancake lenses, same 170g weight. Combined with a motion platform, the Dream Air Lighthouse delivers full immersion with the most stable tracking available.

170 grams between you and the track

Most VR headsets weigh 500g or more and start pulling on your neck after 30 minutes. The Dream Air Lighthouse weighs 170g. You forget it's there.

Lighthouse tracking means sub-millimetre positional accuracy from external base stations, which gives the cleanest, most stable image when paired with a motion platform. No drift, no wobble, no recalibration mid-session. Just the sharpest view of the apex you've ever had.

Lighthouse tracking on a motion rig

External base stations lock your position in space with millimetre accuracy, even while your motion platform pitches, rolls, and heaves beneath you. Lighthouse tracking is the gold standard for seated sim setups where the headset stays in roughly the same position every session.

No controllers included because you already have them. Lower price, same headset, same experience.

Built for motion

If you're racing or flying with motion & VR, this is the headset designed to handle it. SIMRIG's native VR motion compensation works out of the box with Dream Air. ProSimu and Qubic platforms support motion compensation through third-party tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Lighthouse tracking over SLAM?

Lighthouse uses external base stations that track your headset position from outside rather than using built-in cameras. For dedicated sim setups where your headset stays in roughly the same position every session, Lighthouse provides millimetre-accurate tracking with zero drift. SteamVR-native smart smoothing also gives you extra GPU headroom that SLAM tracking does not offer.

Do I need base stations and controllers?

Yes. Lighthouse version is headset only. You need at least one SteamVR 2.0 base station (two recommended). Controllers are not included as most Lighthouse users already own Valve Index controllers or equivalent. If you do not own any SteamVR hardware, the SLAM version with included controllers is the better choice.

Does Lighthouse tracking handle motion platform movement?

Yes. External base stations lock your position in space regardless of what the platform is doing beneath you. Lighthouse tracking is considered the most stable option for motion sim use because the base stations are mounted to the room, not moving with the rig.

Is the headset identical to the SLAM version?

Same Sony 8K Micro-OLED panels, same ConcaveView pancake lenses, same 170g weight, same 110 degree FOV, same 90Hz refresh rate. Only the tracking system and included accessories differ. Lighthouse version does not include controllers.

Why is the Lighthouse version cheaper than the SLAM?

No controllers are included. You are paying for the headset only, which brings the price down. If you already own SteamVR base stations and controllers, Lighthouse is the better value option.
