GT Cockpit Profile Ideal for closed cockpit builds

The Stilo ST6 GT Zero brings Stilo's minimum weight Zero construction to the GT wide-eyeport profile — FIA 8860-2018 certified and built on the ST6 platform. The GT profile's wider eyeport provides improved downward visibility of the dashboard and cockpit controls compared to the FN formula version, making it the natural choice for GT and closed-cockpit sim rig builds where display visibility matters.

At from 1,050g it is one of the lightest FIA 8860 helmets available with a GT profile — combining maximum safety certification with minimum weight and Stilo's highest carbon specification in a shell designed specifically for GT cockpit environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ST5 and ST6 helmets?

The ST6 uses a higher grade carbon construction than the ST5 — a stiffer and stronger shell at equivalent weight. Both helmets are available across the same range of profiles, certifications and Zero weight variants. If you want Stilo's best carbon construction, choose ST6. If you want excellent quality at a more accessible price, ST5 is the right choice.

What do FN, F, GT and GTN mean?

These refer to the eyeport profile of the helmet. FN is the narrowest — a formula-specific profile designed for open-wheel racing where aerodynamics and a compact head profile matter. GT is the widest — designed for GT and closed-cockpit environments where downward visibility of the dashboard is more important. F sits between FN and GT as a versatile all-round profile. GTN is a slightly narrower version of the GT — wider than FN but not as wide as the full GT. For formula and open-wheel sim rigs choose FN. For GT and closed-cockpit sim rigs choose GT or GTN. If you are unsure, contact us and we will advise based on your cockpit.

What is the difference between the standard Carbon, 8860 and Zero versions?

The standard Carbon versions are certified to FIA 8859 and Snell SA2020 — a full competition standard used across GT racing, touring cars and club motorsport worldwide. The 8860 versions carry FIA 8860-2018 certification — the highest international circuit standard, used in Formula 1, WEC and Formula E. The Zero versions use Stilo's minimum weight shell construction process, reducing shell weight significantly at the same certification level. Zero is available at both 8859 and 8860 levels.

What does ABP mean?

ABP stands for Advanced Ballistic Protection. It refers to a reinforced ballistic panel integrated into the front of the carbon shell, designed to protect against high-speed debris impact. The ABP standard was developed following FIA research into head injuries in open-wheel racing and became mandatory in Formula 1 from 2019 via the FIA 8860-2018 ABP standard. ABP versions are available at both the FIA 8859 and FIA 8860 levels in the Stilo range. The ABP panel adds a small amount of weight compared to the non-ABP version of the same helmet.

Do I need HANS posts and do these helmets include them?

HANS posts are anchor points that connect the helmet to a HANS or FHR head restraint device. They are not required for sim racing use. All Stilo helmets in this range are compatible with HANS and FHR devices — check the individual product listing to confirm whether posts are included or available separately for your specific helmet.

How does Stilo sizing work?

Stilo helmets fit true to size, which means they follow standard head circumference measurements closely. Measure the circumference of your head at its widest point — typically just above your eyebrows — and cross-reference against the Stilo size chart. Unlike some brands, Stilo does not tend to run small. If you are between sizes contact us before ordering and we can advise on the best fit for your head shape.

Can I return a helmet if it does not fit?

Helmets can be returned if they are unused, unmodified and in original packaging with all tags attached. Once a helmet has been worn or the inner liner removed it cannot be returned. We strongly recommend contacting us for sizing advice before ordering — we can help you select the correct size based on your head measurement to avoid any issues.

What is the difference between FIA 8859 and FIA 8860?

FIA 8860-2018 is the highest motorsport helmet standard in the world and is the mandatory standard in Formula 1. It requires significantly more rigorous testing than FIA 8859 and provides a higher level of protection particularly against high-speed impact and ballistic debris. FIA 8859 is the standard used across GT racing, touring cars, rally and club motorsport — it is a serious competition standard and more than sufficient for all forms of racing below F1. For sim racing both standards are equally valid. The choice comes down to which level of certification and construction you want.

Are these helmets suitable for real-world racing as well as sim racing?

Yes. All Stilo helmets in this range carry genuine FIA homologation valid for real-world competition use within the relevant championship regulations. Check your series regulations for the specific standard required before purchasing for real-world competition use.
